Revs Announce First Two Player Signings of 2016

Paniagua returns for sixth season in York; club reacquires Repko

(York, Penn., Feb. 5, 2016) - The York Revolution have begun construction on the 2016 preseason roster, unveiling the first two player signings of the new season. Catcher Salvador Paniagua has signed to return to the club for a sixth season, while outfielder Jason Repko has been reacquired to spend a third season with York. The signings were announced by Revs manager Mark Mason during the initial episode of “Revs Hot Stove Weekly” on SportsRadio 1350 WOYK on Friday afternoon.

Paniagua continues his time in York as the longest-tenured position player in franchise history. Having first signed with the Revs prior to the 2011 season, Paniagua has played in 362 games, the second highest overall total in club history. Paniagua also ranks seventh in club history in hits (336), fourth in at-bats (1,300), tied for seventh in doubles (65), tied for sixth in home runs (38), and seventh in RBI (166). Last season, the Dominican Republic native batted .256 with seven home runs and 37 RBI in 72 games played, and finished on a tear, batting .348 with six homers and 25 RBI in his last 29 games, including a walk-off grand slam on September 4, 2015 vs. Bridgeport. The veteran backstop was an Atlantic League All-Star in 2013, batting .279 with 14 home runs and 54 RBI. Paniagua enters his 13th pro season, having spent time in the Boston Red Sox and New York Mets organizations prior to settling in with the Revolution.

Repko returns to York for the first time since the 2014 season. The Major League veteran batted .291 with 13 home runs and 13 stolen bases in 90 games played for Sioux Falls of the American Association last season, and has previously appeared in 54 games with York between the 2013-14 seasons. The 35-year-old is a veteran of 360 MLB games over seven seasons (2005-12) with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Minnesota Twins, and Boston Red Sox, owning 16 home runs and 67 RBI at the big league level. Entering his 17th pro season, Repko was originally a first round draft choice of the Dodgers in 1999.
