2019 Atlantic League Championship Series Matchup Set

Ducks and Skeeters meet in Atlantic League Championship Series for second consecutive season
 

(Lancaster, Pa., Sept. 30, 2019) - The 2019 Atlantic League Championship Series gets underway on Tuesday, September 30, with the Long Island Ducks battling the Sugar Land Skeeters for the Atlantic League Championship.

Long Island, who is in the postseason after winning both the first and second half titles, claimed its Atlantic League record fourth consecutive Liberty Division Championship with a 3-0 series sweep over the High Point Rockers in the Liberty Division Championship Series. The franchise has earned a berth in the Atlantic League Championship Series in seven of the past nine seasons going back to 2011 and eight times overall. The Ducks are seeking their fourth Atlantic League championship in team history (2004, 2012, 2013).

Sugar Land, who clinched a playoff berth by winning the first half title, earned its second consecutive Freedom Division Championship by defeating the York Revolution 3-1 in the Freedom Division Championship Series. It marked Sugar Land's fourth division title in club history and third in the past four seasons. The Skeeters looking to earn their second consecutive Atlantic League championship and third in franchise history (2016, 2018).

The Atlantic League Championship Series will be a best-of-five matchup between the Ducks and Skeeters. Games One and Two will be hosted at Bethpage Ballpark, the home of the Ducks, on Tuesday, October 1, and Wednesday, October 2. Both games are slated to begin at 6:35 p.m. Eastern time. Following a travel day, the series will then shift to Constellation Field, the home of the Skeeters, for Games Three, Four (if necessary) and Five (if necessary), which will be played from Friday, October 4, through Sunday, October 6. Game Three will begin at 6:35 p.m. Central time, Game Four is slated to get underway at 5:05 p.m., and Game Five will start at 6:35 p.m. The series winner will be crowned the 2019 Atlantic League champion.
