Pennant Races: Gastonia became the first team to 70 wins this season with a 9-4 win at High Point (8/12)… The Honey Hunters also became the first team to 25 second half wins… Lancaster holds a 3.5 game lead in North while Gastonia is up 5.5 in the South... Kentucky and Lancaster are tied for the Wild Card berth, 1.5 games in front of High Point.
 
Big-Leaguers: Former Long Island Duck Deven Marerro was called up to the Mets and earned his first AB vs. the Braves on 8/15.
 
First Half-Week Standouts: SMD’s Alex Merithew fanned 11 Rockers in a 7-3 win (8/9) and retired the last 16 batters he faced… GAS’ Ian McKinney struck out nine in five innings vs. Staten Island (8/9). He has 21 K’s in his last 17 innings… LAN’s Andretty Cordero had four hits vs. Long Island 8/9 and went 8-for-12 in the series… LI’s Matt Chamberlain scored four runs vs. LAN (8/9)… Alejandro De Aza drove in five runs vs. Lancaster (8/9)… SMD’s Mitch Lambson allowed just three hits and fanned five in a 2-0 seven inning CG vs. High Point 8/11… CWV’s Edwin Espinal drove in eight runs with four hits and three home runs in a 7-inning game vs. York 8/11. He had a three-run homer, two two-run homers and an RBI double. That’s the most RBI in a game by an ALPB player this year… LAN’s Anthony Peroni drove in five runs vs. LI on 8/11… Jhoendri Herrera of KY fanned five in two innings vs. Lexington (8/11)… KY’s Luke Becker went 6-for-10 vs. Lexington.

League Leaders: SMD’s Daryl Thompson earned his 12th win with a 1-0 three-hitter vs. Staten Island on 8/13. It marked Thompson’s second CG of the year, the 17th of his ALPB career and his third career shutout.Thompson also leads the league with a 3.30 ERA... LI’s Alejandro De Aza continues to lead the ALPB with a.348 batting average while LEX’s Courtney Hawkins has 34 HR and YRK’s Carlos Franco has 95 RBI.
 
Records: SMD’s Braxton Lee hit three triples vs. High Point (8/9)... GAS’ Darian Sandford has 285 career stolen bases, five shy of the ALPB mark of 290 set by Billy Hall (Somerset 2000-05).
 
Walk-Offs: CWV’s Scott Kelly knocked a two-run double to beat York 8/9… Tillman Pugh singled home Demetrius Moorer as Kentucky walked-off Lexington 8/9 OR 8/0?
 
Managerial Update: YRK’s Mark Mason is six wins away from 600 for his career… Mauro “Goose” Gozzo is four wins away from 200… P.J. Phillips needs three wins to reach 100. 
 
Over 40: Former Met Nelson Figueroa came out of retirement to start a game for Staten Island at Gastonia on 8/9… He threw a seven-inning CG and struck out four… LI’s Lew Ford hit two home runs vs. CWV on 8/13 and now has 30 ALPB homers since turning 40, more than any other 40+ player in league history.
