History Made at Regency Furniture Stadium

Infielder Bryant Nelson Records his 1,000 Atlantic League hit in Blue Crabs Day Game

(Waldorf, Md., June 2, 2016) - Southern Maryland Blue Crabs infielder Bryant Nelson reached a career milestone during the June 2, 2016 game at Regency Furniture Stadium. In the bottom of the first inning, Nelson hit his 1,000th career Atlantic League hit against the Somerset Patriots. Nelson is only the third player in Atlantic League History to reach the milestone, and he is the first to accomplish it while playing for the Blue Crabs.

Nelson was originally drafted by the Houston Astros in the 1993 MLB Amateur Draft and made his major league debut with the Boston Red Sox on May 14, 2002. He made his Atlantic League debut with the Bridgeport Blue Fish in 2006, and he has since played with the Long Island Ducks (2007-2008; 2012-2013), the Camden Riversharks (2009; 2014), the Lancaster Barnstormers (2010; 2015), and the York Revolution (2011; 2014) before joining the Blue Crabs Roster in 2015 season.

"Bryant has been a clutch player in the Atlantic League" said Blue Crabs Manager Jeremy Owens. "His contribution on the field and as a leader in the clubhouse makes him invaluable to the organization."

The Blue Crabs return home on June 10th against the Long Island Ducks for a three game series and continue the six game homestand against the Bridgeport Bluefish.
