'Unprecedented' 70 ALPB Contracts Already Purchased July 20, 2021, New York - A staggering 70 Atlantic League of Professional Baseball players have had their contracts purchased by other leagues, including those of 52 players going to MLB affiliates - and the Atlantic League has been putting on games for less than a month. "This is unprecedented even for us," said Atlantic League President Rick White. "We've always enjoyed a terrific relationship with MLB and been thrilled to help their clubs discover or re-discover great talent, but this year has already seen us connect 52 different players with Major League organizations. It really is a testament to the scouting abilities of our field managers and the talent of the players looking to join our clubs. This is the reason they do so, and we are ecstatic for each of those getting a chance to get called up."
