August 31, 2021, Lexington, KY - The Lexington Legends in their inaugural season in the Atlantic League have done what no team in league history has accomplished in the past: win the first half championship, punching their ticket to the playoffs. In large part, the Legends can thank the play of shortstop Roberto Baldoquin, who recently tallied his 100th hit this season in just over 300 plate appearances.
Baldoquin is the first player from the Atlantic League to the 100-hit mark during the 2021 campaign. The Cuban-born shortstop spent 2015-2020 in the Los Angeles Angels organization, where he reached as high as AA. The league leader in doubles (26) is slashing an impressive .352 batting average while tallying 63 total RBIs thus far.
