Statement from the Lexington Legends

Statement from the Lexington Legends

Our thoughts and prayers are currently with the victims of the multiple Lexington shootings which occurred yesterday, including one, as reported, at the Property. We are cooperating with the Lexington Police to assist in their investigation into this shooting, hoping to bring accountability to whoever is responsible. In addition to our normal baseball schedule, our Stadium regularly houses events including charity events, community organizations, little league team events, birthday parties, office get-togethers, and other community gatherings outside of baseball. At all events, including those mentioned, trained and professional security are always present ensuring all applicable safety codes, regulations and standards are followed. The safety of our fans, players, coaches and staff are always our number 1 priority.

With that said, in an effort to pay respect to the victims of the shootings in Lexington last night we have decided to cancel the doubleheader tonight between the Legends and Genomes scheduled to begin at 4:35 p.m.

This decision was made by Legends management in order to pay our wonderful community the respect it deserves. The decision to cancel the game was not made due to any safety concern for our fans, players, coaches and staff as our stadium remains a safe, enjoyable and fun atmosphere for all families and fans to enjoy the great  game of baseball. In addition, we look forward to working with community leadership to ensure our city remains safe and suitable for all our families and businesses.

We plan to resume our normal home schedule beginning with a doubleheader, tomorrow, Sunday 8/28 starting at 1 p.m., followed by a doubleheader Saturday, September 17 at 4:35 p.m.
