2024 ALPB playoff field set

The Atlantic League playoff field is set for 2024.

The York Revolution and the Gastonia Baseball Club earned their berths in the postseason by winning the league’s first half championship. This week, Charleston secured the South Division second half pennant while Lancaster won the North Division title for the third straight year.

The best-of-five Division Championship Series will start on Tuesday, September 17 with York at Lancaster and Gastonia at Charleston. Game two of each series is slated for Wednesday, September 18. After a travel day on Thursday, September 19, the Division Series shifts to the homes of the first half champions. York will host Lancaster on Friday, September 20 with games four and five, if necessary, on Saturday, September 21 and Sunday, September 22.

The South Division series will move to Gastonia for games on September 20-22.

The best-of-five League Championship Series will start on Tuesday, September 24 at the home of the South Champion.

The Lancaster Barnstormers are trying to recreate their recipe for success that they have successfully executed in each of the last two years. The Stormers have posted sub-.500 first half records each year before roaring back to win the North second half title and riding that momentum to a pair of ALPB titles. The Stormers will attempt to become the first team to win three straight ALPB Championships.

York, Lancaster’s North Division opponent, has three ALPB crowns (2010, 2011, 2017) and are in the playoffs for the first time since 2019. The Revolution dominated the Stormers in the 2024 regular season, going 15-3 to win the War of the Roses Cup.

This will be the third time the Stormers and Revs have met in the postseason. Lancaster swept York in three games in 2012 while York downed Lancaster in five games in 2011.

Gastonia is in the ALPB playoff field for the third straight year, having lost to High Point in the 2022 South Division series before losing to Lancaster in five games in the 2023 League Championship series.

Charleston will make its second ALPB postseason appearance. The Dirty Birds lost in the South Division title to Lexington in 2021.
