The High Point Rockers Ben Aklinski recently became just the second person in Atlantic League history to join the 30-30 club. Charleston’s James Nelson was the first as he homered against High Point on August 26 for his 30th round-tripper of the year.
Aklinski hit a pair of homers vs. Charleston on August 28 and stole his 30th base in the same game to join Nelson among the ALPB elite.
Aklinski currently has 31 homers and 31 stolen bases on the season.
Now in his fifth year in the ALPB, Aklinski has set a number of milestones. His 131 career homers rank as the fourth-most in league history. Aklinski is among an elite group to have four or more 20-homer seasons. He is one of two players to ever have two 100-RBI seasons and he is closing in on his third 100-runs scored campaign.
The former Kentucky Wildcat is a .274 career hitter in the Atlantic League with 131 homers, 463 RBI and 512 runs scored.
