York Revolution 5, Staten Island FerryHawks 1

The Staten Island FerryHawks suffered a tough 5-1 loss Friday night at SIUH Community Park, falling to the York Revolution in the first matchup of the series.

Morgan McSweeney took the mound for his tenth start of the season. He started off the game striking out the side in the first but the Revolution were able to score one run in each of the first three innings to grab a 3-0 lead.

McSweeney was able to settle down for the next two innings but the Revolution’s Jeremy Arocho sailed a two-run bomb in the sixth to make it 5-0.

On the other hand, the Revolution’s Wes Scott kept the Hawks scoreless for the first five innings. It was not until Mark Contreras’s sixth inning solo homer that the Hawks would be on the board to make it 5-1. This would be the Hawks’ lone run of the night.

With a triple in the third and a single in the eighth, Contreras was a double short of a cycle as he went 3-3 at the plate with a walk.

Scott was finished after 6.1 innings as he only gave up one run with eight strikeouts. Revolution’s Dallas Woolfolk came in shortly after Contreras’ blast to finish the seventh. The Revolution’s bullpen was able to keep the Hawks scoreless for the rest of the night.

Trayson Kubo took over for McSweeney in the seventh and threw two scoreless innings to keep the Hawks in the game. Reinier Parra pitched a scoreless ninth but the Hawks were not able to make a comeback.

Fans were excited to see Pablo Sandoval back, however he was 0-3 with two strikeouts and a walk.

The FerryHawks are looking to prevent the Revolution from clinching a series win tomorrow, Saturday night at 6:30 PM at SIUH Community Park.
