York 7, Hagestown 5

(May 17, 2025 – York, Pa.):  Bubba Alleyne made his York Revolution debut a memorable one, tying a single-game franchise record with four stolen bases to spark a 7-5 victory over the Hagerstown Flying Boxcars on Saturday night in front of 4,092 fans at WellSpan Park. The Revs improve to 13-7, establishing the best 20-game start to a season in franchise history, as they continue to lead the North Division by two games in first place and will go for a series sweep on Sunday.

A former Los Angeles Dodgers prospect and University of Maryland star, Alleyne stole home in the bottom of the seventh for his fourth stolen base of the night, tying Wilson Valdez (2014) and Alonzo Harris (2018, twice) for a piece of Revs history with the all-time single-game mark.

York grabbed an early lead, scoring three times in the bottom of the second. Marty Costes led things off with a base hit to left center and stole second base. With Costes still at second and two outs in the inning, Alleyne came back from an 0-2 count to battle on with a walk, and as the duo executed a double steal, Costes scored when third baseman Osvaldo Abreu couldn’t handle catcher Isaias Quiroz’ throw, allowing Costes to cross the plate on the error. Jeffrey Wehler launched a two-run homer to right center as the Revs suddenly led 3-0.

York starter Danny Denz was excellent in four innings, allowing just one unearned run on three hits, two of which were kept in the infield. Quiroz’ sac fly in the fourth cut York’s lead to 3-1 but that was the only damage done to Denz who lowered his season ERA to 0.71.

Lukas Galdoni initially struggled to decipher Saturday night’s strike zone as a trio of walks loaded the bases in the fifth, but the righty made a big escape deflecting an Errol Robinson grounder to short where Wehler completed an inning-ending double play to get out of the inning.

Welington Dotel rocketed a solo homer to right in the sixth as the Boxcars persisted to within 3-2.

Hagerstown starter Daniel Corcino had retired 10 of 11 after Wehler’s second inning homer until Frankie Tostado hammered a double off the center field fence to lead off the sixth. After advancing to third on a ground out, Tostado scored as Costes lined an RBI single to left center over a drawn-in infield for a 4-2 lead.

The Boxcars remained resilient, tallying three hits off reliever Dallas Woolfolk in the seventh, but while Robinson’s two-out double to the gap in left center slashed the lead to 4-3, Joe Campagna was nailed at the plate attempting to score the tying run, as Alleyne added an outfield assist to his debut performance, with Jalen Miller handling a deflected cutoff attempt and firing a strike to catcher William Simoneit for the tag at the plate.

The Revs immediately padded the lead with three in their half of the seventh, widening the margin to 7-3. Alleyne was hit by a pitch to begin the inning and promptly swiped second and third. After a walk to Wehler who was caught attempting to steal second, Miller walked to reoccupy first base and drew a pickoff throw from reliever Branden Noriega. Alleyne bolted from third and dashed home, scoring without a throw as he stole second, third, and home in the seventh inning alone. After Miller stole second for the Revs’ seventh stolen base of the night, Justin Connell connected on a two-run homer to left center, his fourth of the year.

Noah Denoyer took care of the eighth inning in scoreless fashion, while Mauricio Llovera had to battle his way through the ninth. Coming off three consecutive scoreless outings, the righty hit Miles Williams with a pitch to begin the inning and surrendered a single to Jesus Lujano (3-for-4). After snaring a broken bat comeback liner for the first out, Llovera walked Campagna to load the bases, bringing the tying run to the plate. Robinson rolled a grounder to first that nearly resulted in a game-ending 3-6-1 double play, but while Robinson was called safe which allowed a run to score, Llovera argued the call as a second run crossed the plate. Abreu reached on an infield single to bring the go-ahead run to the plate, but Llovera nailed down the victory, striking out Dotel looking to end it.

Notes: The Revs have won six straight against the Boxcars, improving to 7-1 head-to-head on the season. York has won five of its first seven series of the year. The Revs tied a season-high with seven steals as a team, matching their total from Opening Night, tied for the sixth-highest single-game total in Revs history. The Revs lowered their team ERA from 4.57 to 4.54, moving into the league’s top ranking. Connell extended his season-opening on-base streak to 17 consecutive games. Tostado doubled twice, increasing his league-leading total to an incredible 15 doubles in the first 20 games. The Revs homered twice and have now hit 24 long balls as a team, the league’s third most; Connell leads the way with four round trippers while seven players have multiple long balls and 12 different players have hit at least one.

HIGH POINT, NC- High Point Rockers pitcher Matt Solter threw the first nine inning complete game shutout in club history, beating the Lexington Legends 17-0 on Saturday night in front of 2,001 adoring fans at Truist Point.

For Solter (W, 2-1) it marked his second complete game of the season. He tossed a seven inning one-hitter in beating Gastonia 3-0 on April 28. Solter benefited from outstanding defense, including warning track catch from left fielder Brantley Cutler in the seventh and a diving, hit-robbing grab by Ben Aklinski in the ninth.

“That’s probably the best game I ever pitched,” said the 31-year-old Solter. “Our defense was outstanding and Aklinski’s catch in the ninth was incredible. Isaiah (Mirabal) and I were in sync right from the start. He called a great game.”

The Rockers offense was in high gear right from the start, scoring three times in the first inning, adding four runs in the second and another four-run outburst in the sixth. They finished with five runs in the eighth. On the night, the Rockers 14 hits including seven extra base hits.

Luis Gonzalez had four hits, including three doubles and a homer. Alinski and Evan Edwards each scored three runs with Edwards driving home four including a three-run homer in the first inning.

“There’s no greater compliment than when the visiting manager (Paul Fletcher) tells you that he could watch Matt Solter pitch every day,” said Rockers manager Jamie Keefe.

The win moves the Rockers back into first place in the Atlantic League’s South Division at 14-6, while the Legends fall to 13-7. The final game and rubber match of the series is set to start at 4:05 pm start Sunday afternoon at Truist Point.

Lancaster 5, Long Island 2

Tim Brennan worked into the seventh inning, and a stingy Lancaster bullpen took it home from there as the Stormers defeated the Long Island Ducks, 5-2, Saturday evening at Penn Medicine Park.

The win was Lancaster’s fourth in the last five games.

Brennan (1-1) lasted 6 2/3 innings, yielding six hits and two runs.  He avoided the walk, although he hit two and recorded four strikeouts.  Phil Diehl retired two batters as did Scott

Engler.  Ryley Gilliam yielded only a two-out double in the ninth to pin down his second save.

Lancaster inched out to a 3-0 lead early in the game.  The first Stormers run crossed in the second inning off Juan Hillman (0-1) on a double play off the bat of Yeison Coca.  Joseph Carpenter’s RBI single up the middle in the third inning plated Nick Ward with the second run.  Hillman’s wild pitch allowed Coca to score another marker in the fourth for a 3-0 Lancaster lead.

Doubles by Kole Kaler and Chris Roller in the fifth picked up the first run of the night off Brennan.  JC Encarnacion sliced the lead to 3-2 with a homer just inside the right field foul pole in the seventh.  The Ducks added a pair of singles to chase Brennan, but Diehl retired Taylor Kohlwey on a harmless grounder to first to close the inning.

Ward keyed a two-run seven with a double into the left field corner.  That pushed Danny Amaral across for a 4-2 edge.  Ward later scored on a two-out single by Alex Isola to provide the final margin of victory.

Noah Bremer, a 10-game winner for the Stormers in 2024, will mark his return to the club with a Sunday afternoon start.  He will be matched up against Long Island right-hander David Griffin (2-0).  Fans may follow the action on FloBaseball, beginning at 1:55.

Staten Island 4, Gastonia 3

STATEN ISLAND, NY — On a picture-perfect Saturday afternoon at Staten Island University Hospital Community Park, the Staten Island FerryHawks defeated the Gastonia Ghost Peppers, 4–3, in the middle game of a three-game set.

Left-hander Christian Allegretti took the mound for Staten Island, entering the game with a 5.40 ERA. After a rocky second inning in which Gastonia pushed across a run and threatened with two in scoring position, Allegretti settled in. He retired the next nine batters he faced and wrapped up his outing with five solid innings, allowing just one run on three hits while striking out three.

A game-changing moment came in the top of the third, when Gastonia threatened with a runner on third and one out. Justin Wylie laced a line drive toward third, but Pablo Sandoval made a sensational diving grab, popping up to double off the runner at third and end the inning in highlight-reel fashion.

In the bottom of the third, the FerryHawks responded. With two on and one out, Matt Scheffler lined a single to left field, scoring Mark Contreras to tie the game at one apiece.

Sandoval’s glove made headlines early, and his bat followed. In the fifth, he crushed a towering 404-foot solo homer to right field, giving Staten Island a 2–1 lead. The FerryHawks weren’t done yet—Shayne Fontana ripped a double over the center fielder’s head, and Tim Borden followed with a two-run double to right to stretch the lead to 4–1.

Gastonia fought back with two runs off reliever James Meeker in the eighth, but the FerryHawks bullpen closed the door to secure the win. Staten Island’s offense was steady throughout the afternoon, with seven of the nine starters recording at least one hit.

With the win, the FerryHawks will aim to take the series in tomorrow’s rubber match. First pitch is set for 1:30 p.m. at SIUH Community Park.
