Long Island Ducks 10, High Point Rockers 7 (11 innings)

(High Point, N.C., Sept. 6, 2025) – The Long Island Ducks defeated by the High Point Rockers 10-7 in 11 innings on Saturday evening in the middle game of a three-game series at Truist Point.

Long Island took a 2-0 advantage four batters into the ballgame thanks to a two-out, two-run home run to left field off the bat of Leobaldo Cabrera against High Point starting pitcher Jonah Scolaro. The Rockers scored three times in the bottom of the frame by way of a three-run roundtripper from Even Edwards off Ducks starter Juan Hilllman. High Point made it 5-2 in the second on a Luis Gonzalez two-run home run.

The visitors tied the contest at five in the third thanks to RBI base hits by River Town and Troy Viola along with a sacrifice fly produced by Cody Thomas. The Flock went back out in front 7-5 in the sixth as Kole Kaler plated a pair with a two-out single. The Rockers tied the game at seven in seventh on Luke Napleton’s two-run double to left with two men away.

Long Island scored three times in the 11th for a 10-7 cushion as Viola plated Taylor Kohlwey with the go-ahead run by drawing a walk with the basses loaded. Two batters later the Ducks got some breathing room as they added a pair of king-sized insurance runs when Thomas drove in Town and Viola with a clutch two-out base hit. The Rockers went quietly in the home half of the inning as Braydon Nelson erased all three batters he faced to collect his six save of the campaign.

Neither starter factored into the decision. Hillman allowed five runs (two earned) on five hits in four innings pitched, walking three and striking out six. Scolaro gave up five runs on five hits in three innings on the mound, walking and striking out one. Ramon Santos (4-0) picked up the win in relief after firing two scoreless innings on one hit and one walk and three strikeouts. Cam Cotter (0-2) suffered the loss, surrendering three unearned runs on one hit across two innings pitched, walking two and striking out one.

Viola had two hits, a pair of RBIs, two runs scored and a walk. Ivan Castillo had two hits and a run scored while Thomas had a hit and three runs batted in en route to the victory.

The Ducks and Rockers wrap up their three-game set on Sunday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 4:05 p.m. at Truist Point. Fans can follow all the action live on FloBaseball. Gastonia Ghost Peppers 7, Southern Maryland Blue Crabs 5

GASTONIA, N.C. – The Ghost Peppers scored six in the sixth and Cole Roederer joined the 20-20 club in Gastonia’s 7-5 win over Southern Maryland on Saturday night.

The Peppers were getting shutout through five frames, with right-hander Connor Overton retiring 12 consecutive hitters and navigating through the lineup with ease.

Gastonia then exploded with six runs on five hits in the sixth inning, as Aaron McKeithan capped off the frame by crushing a bases-clearing double off the glove of Alejandro De Aza in deep center. McKeithan hit his first homer of the season the night prior, and came up with another big knock on Saturday.

Before the McKeithan three-run two-bagger, Shed Long Jr. picked up his first Ghost Peppers RBI with a single and Cole Roederer hit his second game-tying single in as many nights.

The Peppers took a 6-2 lead in the sixth, and got some insurance with a Cole Roederer opposite-field homer in the eighth. Roederer connected on his 20th home run of the year, joining his teammate Justin Wylie in the 20-20 club in 2025. Roederer now has 20 long balls to go along with 23 stolen bases.

Tyler Wilson was able to shut the door on the Crabs, despite allowing a couple runs in the ninth, as the Ghost Peppers hung on for the 7-5 win.

Gastonia managed to even the series up a game apiece, and also evened up the second-half series with Southern Maryland 4-4. Sunday’s rubber match will determine which team clinches the tiebreaker.

With 10 games remaining, Gastonia’s magic number is at eight. The final game of the series on Sunday is at 4 p.m.

Lancaster Stormers 8, York Revolution 7

Quincy Hamilton drilled a two-run homer to right field in the top of the ninth inning to give the Lancaster Stormers an 8-6 lead at WellSpan Park.

Ryley Gilliam had the lights go out on him while warming up for the bottom of the inning.  The Lancaster right-hander had to wait an extra 17 minutes before closing things out, barely holding on for an 8-7 win over the host York Revolution.

The victory ended a four-game losing streak by the Stormers at the hands of the Revs.

Nick Ward drew a two-out walk off Brendan Cellucci (1-1) in the top of the ninth before Hamilton yanked a 1-1 pitch over the boards in right to break the tie.

Gilliam (2-1) had retired the side in order in the eighth, and was ready to work the ninth when the light standards went out, one-by-one, reportedly because a stadium employee thought it was time for the post-game fireworks.

When play finally resumed, Shayne Fontana led off with a homer over the tall left field wall.  Catcher Chris Williams was hit by a pitch.  Miles Simington took Nick Lucky into the left center field gap to haul in a deep fly ball for the first out. Pinch hitter Jeremy Arocho singled into left to move the tying run to second.  Gilliam responded, striking out Jaylin Davis and Elvis Peralta to end the night.

York struck for four runs in the bottom of the first off Lancaster ace Noah Skirrow, and it appeared that the Revs were on the way to a fifth straight easy win.

Nick Lucky had other plans.  The Lancaster center fielder slugged a solo homer in the bottom of the second and tied the score with a three-run shot off starter Alex Valverde in the fourth.

Jalen Miller’s homer, his fourth hit of the night, rebuilt a 6-4 lead for the Revs in the bottom of the sixth.  Following that, York loaded the bases, but Lucky made a sliding catch in left center on a sinking liner by Simington to end the inning.

The Stormers again fought back from adversity against the strong and deep York bullpen.  Alex Isola picked up a walk from Nick Bennett leading off the seventh.  With one out, Yeison Coca doubled into the right field corner.  York switched to right-hander Nick Mikolajchak, who yielded a sac fly to center, and Nick Ward dumped a single into shallow left center to tie the game.

The eighth got off to a false start with Lancaster leaving runners at first and second.  Hamilton donned the hero’s cloak, and the Stormers are guaranteed to have the division lead heading into the upcoming week.

Luke McCollough (0-3) will take the hill on Sunday afternoon against lefty Braden Scott (0-0).  Fans may tune in on FloBaseball at 12:55.

NOTES:  Lucky’s two-homer game was his first of the season and second as a Stormer…He pulled to within one RBI of Mason Martin’s team-leading total of 84…Skirrow was lifted after only 3 1/3 innings, his shortest start of the year…The Lancaster rally kept the right-hander from losing for the first time since June 18…He struck out for along the way and leads the league with 137…That is eight shy of the franchise record, held by Cameron Gann (2022).
