Long Island Ducks 9, Staten Island FerryHawks 2

The Ducks took a 1-0 lead in the bottom half of the first inning on Taylor Kohlwey’s two-out RBI single to centerfield against FerryHawks starting pitcher Dylan Sabia. Long Island made it 2-0 in their favor in the second courtesy of an Ivan Castillo run-scoring base hit. The Flock opened up a 4-0 advantage in the third by way of a Justin O’Conner two-run double.
Cody Thomas’ sacrifice fly to deep left field in the fourth made it 5-0 in favor of the Ducks. Staten Island got to within 5-1 in the fifth thanks to an RBI groundout from Eddy Diaz versus Long Island starter Juan Hillman. The visitors cut the deficit to 5-2 in the sixth on Mark Contreras’ run-scoring two-base hit. The Flock plated three runs in the bottom of the frame for an 8-2 cushion on a solo home run to right field off the bat of Ivan Castillo and a two-run blast to right by Thomas. Thomas was at it again in the eighth as he closed out the scoring with a booming solo tater to right centerfield.
Hillman (4-4) picked up the victory after allowing just two runs on four hits over six innings pitched, walking three and striking out seven. Sabia (0-1) was tagged with the loss, surrendering four runs on seven hits in three innings pitched, walking a pair while striking out one.

Gastonia Ghost Peppers 7, High Point Rockers 4
HIGH POINT, N.C.- The Gastonia Ghost Peppers broke a 3-3 tie with three eighth inning home runs and posted a 7-4 win over the High Point Rockers Thursday night in front of a sold out crowd of 4,185 at Truist Point.
The Ghost Peppers used solo homers from Brian O’Grady, Narciso Crook and Ethan Skender along with a triple from Eric De La Rosa to score four times in the eighth and take a 7-4 lead.
Gastonia took an early lead in the first when Justin Wylie hit a solo homer off Rockers starter Pat Gardner. But the Rockers rookie went 5.2 innings and allowed just five hits and two runs with five strikeouts in a no-decision.
A solo homer from De La Rosa in the third gave the Peppers a 2-0 lead.
The Rockers responded with an inside the park homer from Aidan Brewer in the third and a pair of solo homers from Jack Conley and Luis Gonzalez in the fifth to take a 3-2 lead.
Gastonia tied the game 3-3 in the seventh when Skender singled and scored on an RBI single by Nate Scantlin. Stevie Branche (L, 2-2) came on in the eighth for the Rockers and took the loss. Gastonia reliever Kent Hasler (W, 1-1) claimed the win with Bryan Blanton earning his first save of the season.
All eight home runs hit in the game were solo homers.
Conley finished the game with two RBI while Drew Mendoza and Alex Dickerson each had a pair of hits for the Rockers. Jack Reinheimer led the Peppers with three hits.
The Rockers will be on the road from July 4 to July 6 to play a three-game series against the Ghost Peppers, but this time in their field at CaroMont Health Park. Friday and Sunday’s games are both slated to start at 4 pm. Saturday’s will take place at 7 pm. You can catch all the Rockers action on FLOBASEBALL.TV and on the MixLR app.
NOTES: Thursday’s attendance of 4,185 was the fourth-largest in Truist Point history and marked the fourth sell-out on or near July 4 for the Rockers . . . Brewer’s inside the park home run was just the third in Rockers history. Ben Aklinski and Zander Wiel each hit one in separate games against the Lexington Legends in 2022.
York Revolution 13, Lancaster Stormers 11
The Lancaster Stormers did enough offensively to win most games.
Thursday, it was not enough.
Frankie Tostado went 5-for-5, and Jalen Miller hit a crucial late home run, as the York Revolution outhammered the Stormers, 13-11, avoiding a sweep of the three-game series.
The War of the Roses now stands at six games apiece.
It was an all-out war, right from the beginning. Lancaster jumped on starter Wes Scott for a pair of runs on the first three batters of the night as Evan Alexander walked and scored on a double by Nick Ward to the left center gap. Mason Martin singled up the middle.
Scott settled things down for a while, retiring 11 in a row. Meanwhile, Tostado and Jeffrey Wehler collected RBI singles in the bottom of the first to tie the game at 2-2, and two more runs scored off Lancaster’s Noah Bremer in the third for a 4-2 lead. Ariel Sandoval hit the first of his two homers over the 37 ½-foot wall in left in the top of the fourth, but Jaylin Davis answered with a belt to right center in the bottom of the inning, and Tostado added an RBI double for a 6-3 lead.
Undaunted, the Stormers reached Scott and Hunter Dula (4-1) for a five-run fifth inning. With the bases loaded, Joseph Carpenter singled to left to slice the lead to one. Sandoval cleared the left field wall a second time, and the Stormers were up, 8-6.
However, the Revs scored four of their own in the bottom of the inning. Brandon Lewis singled home William Simoneit; Miller added a two-run double, and Jeremy Arocho greeted Jackson Rees with an RBI single to right to boost York back ahead, 10-8.
Mason Martin took care of that with a two-run homer to the opposite field, his league-leading 20th of the season, tying the game at 10-10 in the sixth.
Tostado led off the bottom of the inning with his third double, and fourth hit, of the night. A wild pitch from Rees, the sixth of the night from the Lancaster staff, moved the lead runner to third. Tostado held his ground as Marty Costes grounded to short. Simoneit hit a sharp comebacker. Rees initially fumbled the ball, then tried to make a play behind Tostado at third as Simoneit reached on a fielder’s choice. Wehler knocked home the tiebreaker on a sac fly, and the Revs were not caught again.
Miller socked his two-run homer in the seventh for a 13-10 lead, and Andrew Semo connected to lead off the eighth, capping the scoring. Lancaster left the tying runs on base in the ninth.
The Stormers open a three-game series against Charleston on Friday night. Max Green (0-4) will make the start against Jamison Hill (2-5). Fireworks will follow the game. Fans may also tune into FloBaseball at 6:40.
NOTES: Carpenter has driven home at least one run in seven straight games…Martin extended his on base streak to a 25th game…Tostado’s five-hit game was the first against the Stormers since Melky Mesa of the Revs in 2021…Lancaster is operating with only 12 pitchers…Sandoval was reactivated earlier in the day with RHP Kyle Johnson headed to the injured list…LHP Keylan Killgore will be placed on the injured list prior to Friday’s game…Nick Ward has had three hits in three of the last four games.
