Lexington Legends 4, Lancaster Stormers 2

Noah Skirrow allowed only four baserunners in the first six innings.  Three of them scored.

Curtis Terry and Jerry Huntzinger reached Skirrow (5-2) for home runs as the Lexington Legends defeated the Lancaster Stormers, 4-2, in the rubber game of a three-game series at Legends Field.

Terry connected on an 0-2 pitch from Skirrow following a bunt single by J.T. Riddle in the bottom of the fourth to erase an early 2-0 Lancaster lead.  Skirrow retired five more in a row before Huntzinger connected on a drive over the boards in left in the fifth inning to stake Lexington to a lead it never lost.

An insurance run crossed the plate in the seventh.  A tiring Skirrow issued his first two walks of the night.  Steven Lacey took over with one out and issued a walk to Brian Fuentes to load the bases.  Huntzinger hit a potential double play grounder to shortstop Yeison Coca, who got a force at second, but Mason Martin was unable to dig up a short hop from Nick Lucky as a run scored.

Colton Eastman (4-3) scattered eight hits over five innings to record the win.  Andrew Semo gave the Stormers the early lead with his first Atlantic League home run, a drive down the left field line in the second.

In the fourth, Semo opened the inning with a single through the left side and was forced at second on a Yeison Coca bunt.  Blake Mayberry singled off Fuentes’ glove at third.  Following a pop out by Danny Amaral, Lucky smashed a double past Terry and down the right field line.  Coca scored, but Mayberry was thrown out on a razor thin 9-4-2 relay to the plate, ending the inning.

The Stormers managed only two hits and three runners the rest of the night.  Lexington’s bullpen combo of Jimmy Loper and Jonathan Haab struck out eight in four innings.  Haab was awarded his second save in two nights and fifth of the season.

Lancaster opens a three-game weekend series at Charleston on Friday night with A.J. Alexy (0-1) on the hill.  Fans may tune into FloBaseball, starting at 6:30.

NOTES:  Skirrow tied the season high for the club with nine strikeouts…Mason Martin had a single in the fifth to extend his hitting streak to seven…Mayberry has four hits in his first three pro games.

High Point Rockers 6, Staten Island FerryHawks 5

The Staten Island FerryHawks suffered a tough 6–5 loss Thursday night at SIUH Community Park, falling to the High Point Rockers in the third matchup of their series.

Adalberto Mejía took the mound for his seventh start of the season, entering with a 5.72 ERA. He delivered his best outing yet, tossing five scoreless innings and silencing the Rockers’ offense early.

Staten Island struck quickly. In the bottom of the first, Mark Contreras blasted a two-run homer into the Narrows to give the Hawks an early 2–0 lead. Contreras stayed hot in the third, ripping an RBI double before scoring on a single by Jack Scheffler to make it 4–0.

The offense continued rolling in the fourth as Damon Dues laced an RBI single to right, extending the lead to 5–0.

Trayson Kubo entered in the sixth in relief of Mejía, but the Rockers began to rally. Drew Mendoza responded to this change with a lead off solo home run to break up the shutout. High Point added two more in the seventh, capitalizing on a wild pitch and an error to close the gap to 5–3.

After the 2-run rally with the bases loaded, Connor Higgins came in and got the FerryHawks out of the jam, preserving the lead through the seventh. Reinier Para made his FerryHawks debut in the eighth and delivered a clean shutout inning.

Robbie Baker was tasked with closing things out in the ninth, but the Rockers rallied back taking the lead. With the bases loaded, Braxton Davidson roped a clutch, base-clearing double to give High Point a 6–5 lead—one they would not relinquish.

The FerryHawks will look to bounce back Friday night at 7:00 PM when they host the Hagerstown Flying Boxcars at SIUH Community Park.

Long Island Ducks 4, Charleston Dirty Birds 3 (10 innings)

(Charleston, W.Va., June 12, 2025) – The Long Island Ducks defeated the Charleston Dirty Birds 4-3 in ten innings on Thursday night in the rubber game of a three-game series at GoMart Ballpark.

The Dirty Birds took a 2-0 first inning lead on an RBI double by Alsander Womack and a bases loaded walk issued to Travis Demeritte against Ducks starting pitcher Mitchell Senger. Long Island got to within 2-1 in the fourth courtesy of a Ronaldo Flores solo home run to left field versus Charleston starter Kyle McGowin.

The Flock took their first lead of the evening at 3-2 in the seventh thanks to an RBI double from Cody Thomas and a run-scoring base hit off the bat of Troy Viola, both coming with two men down. Charleston tied the game in the ninth on Chad Sedio’s RBI single, but Long Island took the lead for good in the tenth thanks to Taylor Kohlwey’s two out RBI single as the Ducks won their first extra-inning contest in four games played in 2025.

Neither starter factored into the decision. Senger allowed two runs on one hit in one-third of an inning pitched, walking five. McGowin gave up one run on seven hits across five innings of work, walking and striking out three. Peyton Williams (1-2) picked up the win after giving up a run on one hit in two innings to go along with two walks (one intentional) and a pair of strikeouts. Brendan Medoro (0-1) suffered the loss, giving up an unearned run on one hit in one inning on the mound along with a free pass.

Flores had three more hits, including a solo home run along with an RBI, run scored and intentional walk.
