York Revolution 9, High Point Rockers 2

(July 15, 2025 – York, Pa.):  On a night that saw the York Revolution welcome their four millionth fan through the gates, Chris Vallimont tied a single-game franchise record for strikeouts and the team tied its nine-inning single game strikeout record in a 9-2 victory over the High Point Rockers on Tuesday evening at WellSpan Park.

Vallimont whiffed 13 batters without a walk over seven dominant innings, matching a franchise record that was established during the first month of play in club history in 2007. It was the headlining performance in a combined 18-strikeout effort as a team, as the power pitching was backed by another powerful effort at the plate that saw the Revs pound 15 hits including four doubles and three home runs.

York (44-26) has won three straight and five of its last six, tying High Point for the league’s best overall record while reaching a season-high 18 games above .500. The first half division champion Revs also move into a tie for second place in the second half at 5-2.

For the seventh consecutive contest, the Revs fell behind early as Luis Gonzalez led off the game with a homer to left. It marked the second consecutive game in which the Revs allowed a game-opening leadoff homer.

After Max Viera singled, Vallimont buckled down and struck out the next three to finish the inning, beginning a stretch on which he fanned four consecutive batters and recorded strikeouts on each of his first five outs of the game.

York answered right away as Jalen Miller led off the home first with a double down the left field line. With one out, he swiped third for his 33rd steal of the year, drawing a throwing error from catcher Jack Conley as Miller raced home with the tying run. Frankie Tostado restarted the rally with a single to left for a 10-game hitting streak, later scoring on Shayne Fontana’s two-out single into right as the Revs led 2-1.

Marty Costes crushed a solo homer to left center leading off the bottom of the third, and Jeffrey Wehler and Ryan Higgins added solo bombs to left center in the fourth as the Revs became the league’s second team to 100 long balls on the season with the lead extending to 5-1.

The Revs ripped off four more runs in the fifth, chasing Rockers starter Jonah Scolaro (3-3). Fontana drilled a two-run double over the head of Gonzalez in right and Wehler nailed an RBI double off the left center wall ending Scolaro’s night. It was the Revs’ third consecutive double as Brandon Lewis ripped a two-bagger earlier in the inning, extending his hitting streak to 11 games in-a-row.

Higgins capped the rally with an RBI single to left center as the lead ballooned to 9-1.

Vallimont continued to dominate, racking up eight strikeouts through four innings and 10 punchouts at the end of five.

He struck out Drew Mendoza to begin the sixth for his 11th strikeout of the night, tying his previous Revs career best set May 11, 2024 vs Gastonia. In doing so he became just the third pitcher in Revs history with two 11-strikeout performances, joining Ryan Baerlocher and Chris Cody.

Alex Dickerson connected on a solo homer to right with one out in the sixth, the only other blemish on Vallimont’s night.

Vallimont finished the sixth by striking out Braxton Davidson for the third time, his 12th strikeout of the night tying his previous career high set on May 4, 2019 as a Miami Marlins prospect with the Low-A Clinton LumberKings against the South Bend Cubs. The 12-strikeout performance was just the fourth in Revs franchise history and first since Cody fanned 12 Somerset Patriots on July 24, 2013. It was the first such performance in the history of WellSpan Park.

Vallimont (3-1) induced a pair of weak outs to start the seventh before striking out D.J. Burt to end his night with his 13th strikeout, tying the franchise record set by Baerlocher on May 27, 2007 against the Road Warriors in a game played in Camden, NJ. That was just the 20th game in Revs franchise history as it took 2,327 games for that mark to be matched.

After being greeted with a leadoff double by Gonzalez to start the eighth, reliever Ian Churchill fanned the next three, and Hunter Dula struck out the first two in a perfect ninth to close it out.

The 18-strikeout performance as a team tied the club’s nine-inning single game record set in Vallimont’s 11-strikeout game vs Gastonia on May 11, 2024. It is the first time they have done it without issuing a walk.

A lively Tuesday crowd of 2,409 fans took the Revs over the four million mark all-time, as they become the fifth franchise in Atlantic League history to hit the milestone, joining Long Island, Somerset, Lancaster, and Bridgeport.

The series continues Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. as the Revs send LHP Danny Denz (1-2, 3.75) to the mound against Rockers southpaw Pat Gardner (0-1, 5.84) on Papa John’s Customer Appreciation Night, Rookie Revs Hit the Wall Wednesday, Bark in the Park presented by Stateline Canine, and Winning Wednesday presented by Pennsylvania Lottery. Long Island 6, Staten Island 4

(Staten Island, N.Y., July 15, 2025) – The Long Island Ducks defeated the Staten Island FerryHawks 6-4 on Tuesday night in the opener of a three-game series at Staten Island University Hospital Community Park.

Staten Island took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a leadoff solo home run to center field by Tyler Dearden off Ducks starter Juan Hillman. Long Island responded with a three-spot in the third off FerryHawks starter Wesley Scott, as Taylor Kohlwey’s two-run single to left and Troy Viola’s RBI single to right put the Flock in front.

It stayed that way until the seventh when a two-run single to left by Ivan Castillo extended the Ducks lead to 5-1. JC Encarnacion’s 398-foot solo homer to the batter’s eye in center field in the eighth made it a five-run game. The FerryHawks rallied for three runs in the ninth on an RBI double by Cristhian Rodriguez, a passed ball that scored Kolby Johnson and a sac fly by Dearden. However, the hosts would get no closer.

Hillman took a no-decision, tossing four and two-thirds innings of one-run ball, allowing three hits and seven walks with a pair of strikeouts. Nolan Clenney (1-0) earned the win with two perfect innings of relief, striking out two. Scott (4-5) took the loss, conceding three runs on five hits and three walks in six innings with four strikeouts. Hagerstown Flying Boxcars 5, Lancaster Stormers 1

Jack Weisenburger gave up very little.  When he did, Ozzie Abreu was there to back him up.

The Hagerstown starter yielded five hits in seven innings, and Abreu made a series of highlight reel plays as the Flying Boxcars defeated the Lancaster Stormers, 5-1, in the opener of a three-game series at Meritus Park.

Weisenburger walked one and struck out nine and did not allow a ball out of the infield in the air until a fly ball to shallow left by Mason Martin in the sixth inning.

There were a number of tough playss, all in Abreu’s direction at third.  With two outs and a runner at second in the opening inning, Ariel Sandoval smoked a one hopper right to third.

In the second, Daniel Amaral hit a topper on the left side on which Abreu cut in front of shortstop Justin Acal to gun down the speedy hitter.  In the fourth, Sandoval hit a smash down the third base line.  Abreu made the diving stop and gunned the throw across the diamond, nipping Sandoval at the bag.  Two batters later, Abreu pulled off a stunning play.  Joe Campagna drilled what appeared to be a certain double down the line.  Abreu made the diving stop, rolled over, threw from his back and got it to first baseman Bryce Cannon on one hop and in time.

Hagerstown provided all of the necessary support in the bottom of the first off Luke McCollough (0-1).  Tyler Williams led off with a single under the glove of third baseman Nick Ward.  Williams stole second, went to third on a throwing error and scored when Abreu grounded a ball on the right side that eluded Nick Lucky’s diving attempt.

Abreu later scored on a clean single by Gary Mattis.

Those were the only two runs allowed by McCollough in his five innings of work.  The young right-hander walked one and fanned five while allowing five hits, all singles.

Shortstop Justin Acal extended the lead with a bases-loaded, two-out single off A.J. Alexy in the sixth.

Lancaster’s lone run came on a long homer by Alex Isola in the seventh.  Ward and Isola combined to produce five of the Stormers’ seven hits in the game.

The Stormers will send Max Green (2-4) to the hill on Wednesday against fellow lefty Quinton Martinez (0-2).  Fans may follow the action on FloBaseball, starting at 6:25.

NOTES:  Ward had his fifth game with three or more hits…Isola is 5-for-11 in the last three games…His homer was Lancaster’s first of the road trip.

Lexington Legends 11, Gastonia Ghost Peppers 8

LEXINGTON, KY– The Lexington Legends snagged a win against the Gastonia Ghost Peppers, taking down the visitors from North Carolina in a n11-8 slugfest in front of over 2,500 fans on a beautiful Tuesday night at Legends Field. The Legends’ bats came alive, especially in a huge fifth inning, helping them climb out of an early hole and grab the lead for good.
Lexington’s offense was a team effort, with Dylan Rock blasting a two-run homer and bringing in three runs on the night. Andy Atwood also went deep with a three-run homer, keeping the scoreboard ticking for the Legends. Their timely hits meant they built a lead Gastonia just couldn’t catch, even with a late push.
Gastonia went down without a fight. Ethan Skender, Dalton Guthrie, and Kevin Watson Jr. all launched long balls, keeping the Ghost Peppers in the game. Skender’s three RBIs were a highlight for Gastonia’s offense, which kept the pressure on Lexington’s pitchers all night.
Nic Laio got the win for Lexington, battling through six innings. He gave up five runs, but he managed to prevent any huge blow-up innings and racked up eight key strikeouts. For Gastonia, Nick Wells had a tough outing, giving up nine runs over four innings and getting tagged with the loss.
With the first game at home in the second half of the season notching a win, the Legends now draw even for the half at 3-3, while Gastonia falls to 2-5. The Legends and Ghost Peppers will return to Legends Field bright and early tomorrow with first pitch scheduled for 11:00 AM for Camp Day. The series will wrap up on Thirsty Thursday when the Legends turn into their new AlterEgo as the Kentucky Bourbon Barrels, thanks to Hartfield & Distilling Company.
