Staten Island FerryHawks 3, York Revolution 2 (10 innings)

The Staten Island FerryHawks were walk-off winners for the fifth time following an RBI single up the middle from Vaun Brown on Tuesday, September 16th. When Cris Rodriguez crossed the plate, the FerryHawks soared to a 3-2 victory over the York Revolution in the bottom of the 10th inning.

Staten Island native Ryan Kehoe toed the slab for his 10th start and 11th appearance of the season to open the series against the Revolution. The hometown kid tossed 7 dominant innings of 5-hit, one-run baseball. This was the first time that Kehoe had surpassed five frames in his professional baseball career.

Cris Rodriguez plated the first two runs of the game for Staten Island in the bottom of the 7th inning. The shortstop launched his 16th homer of the season in the opposite direction, good for his 53rd and 54th runs batted in of the year.

After Brian McKenna shut down the Revs’ in the top of the 10th inning, Cris Rodriguez became the inherited ghost runner for Staten Island. With two outs and Rodriguez at third, Vaun Brown delivered an RBI single back up the middle in a two-strike count. Brown was bombarded at first base once Rodriguez scored the game-winning run.

Staten Island opened up their final series of the season with a 3-2 walk-off victory over the York Revolution. The final two games are scheduled to take place at SIUH Community Park on Wednesday, September 17th at 6:30PM and Thursday, September 18th at 10:30AM.

High Point Rockers 12, Charleston Dirty Birds 5

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Drew Mendoza hit a grand slam and three High Point Rockers pitchers combined to throw six and one-third innings of perfect baseball as the Rockers opened a three-game series with a 12-5 win over the Charleston Dirty Birds Tuesday night at Truist Point.

Mendoza’s grand slam came as part of a six-run sixth inning that included an RBI single from D.J. Burt and a bases-loaded walk to Luis Gonzalez that propelled the Rockers to a 7-0 advantage.

The grand slam was the 14th of the year by the Rockers, setting an Atlantic League record and tying the professional baseball record. The Class AAA Albuquerque Isotopes hit 14 slams in 2022. The Major League record is also 14, shared by the 2006 Cleveland Indians and the 2000 Oakland A’s.

The Rockers struck early and left no doubt to the outcome after Gonzalez led off the bottom of the first with a 419-foot blast off the video board for a 1-0 lead.

High Point starter Fin Del Bonta-Smith completed his scheduled two innings of work by retiring all six batters he faced with one strikeout. Erich Uelmen then put down all nine batters he faced in innings three through five. Scott Rouse struck out the side in the sixth before Alsander Womack blooped a soft line drive in center for the Birds’ first hit of the night.

As the Rockers prepare for Saturday’s start to the Atlantic League’s South Division Championship series with Gastonia, manager Jamie Keefe and Frank Viola carefully planned their pitcher’s workload in order to set their postseason rotation.

High Point added three runs in the seventh for a 12-0 lead as Evan Edwards drove in pair of runs and Ben Aklinski had an RBI single.

The Dirty Birds would not score until the eighth when they touched Zach Vennaro for five runs on four hits to make it a 12-5 game. Kyle Halbohn gained the final out of the eighth and pitched a 1-2-3 ninth to close the game.

Gastonia Ghost Peppers 8, Hagerstown Flying Boxcars 2

GASTONIA, N.C. – The Ghost Peppers scored five runs in the second inning on Tuesday night, cruising to an 8-2 victory over Hagerstown and capturing their ninth consecutive win in the process.

Gastonia brought across five runs on four hits in the frame, with the top of the order contributing in a big way.

Nate Scantlin hit an RBI double, Justin Wylie crushed a two-run double off the center-field wall and Cole Roederer walked to set up cleanup hitter Carter Aldrete. The DH reached out and poked a ball to shallow center, plating Wylie and Roederer. The knock was Aldrete’s second run-scoring single of the game, as he finished with 3 RBIs.

Wylie also finished with three runs driven in. After his two-run two-bagger in the second, Wylie connected on his team-leading 29th homer of the season – tattooing a ball 105 miles-per-hour that just got over the left-center field fence. Wylie is now a homer shy of becoming the first player in franchise history to join the 30-30 club.

Craig Stem picked up the win for the Peppers, going five innings of one-run ball and ending his outing retiring the last six Boxcars he faced. He worked two perfect innings on Tuesday, one in the second and the other in the fifth.

Jake Miednik went two scoreless in relief of Stem, Duane Underwood Jr. dealt a 1-2-3 eighth and Tyler Wilson shut the door on Hagerstown in the ninth.

Gastonia won 8-2, securing a ninth straight win and improving to a division-best 39-22 record in the second half. The Ghost Peppers are now tied for the best ALPB record in the second half with Lancaster, each team being 17 games over .500.

The Peppers look to bring the winning streak to double digits on Wednesday, with first pitch between Gastonia and Hagerstown at 12:30 p.m.

Long Island Ducks 8, Lancaster Stormers 5

(Lancaster, Pa., Sept. 16, 2025) – The Long Island Ducks defeated the Lancaster Stormers 8-5 on Tuesday night in the opening game of a three-game series at Penn Medicine Park.

Long Island took a 1-0 lead in the top half of the first inning on an RBI single off the bat of Seth Beer against Lancaster starting pitcher Noah Bremer. The Stormers tied the game at one in the bottom of the frame against Ducks starter David Griffin as Melvin Mercedes hustled down the line from third base by way of a passed ball.

The Flock made it 3-1 in their favor in the third thanks to a Beer run-scoring base knock and a sacrifice fly produced by Taylor Kohlwey. The visitors added a pair of runs in the fifth for a 5-1 cushion on run-scoring base hits from Kohlwey and Ronaldo Flores. Lancaster scored four runs in the home half of the inning to tie the game at five, highlighted by a sacrifice fly from Mercedes and a three-run home run to right field by Quincy Hamilton. The visitors plated a run in the seventh on Flores’ RBI single and two in the eighth on a Beer run-scoring groundout and Kohlwey RBI triple to give the game its final score.

Neither starter factored into the decision. Griffin allowed five runs (four earned) on four hits in five innings pitched, walking and striking out three. Bremer gave up three runs (two earned) on four hits in four innings of work, walking three while striking out seven. Michael Dominguez (1-0) picked up the win with two perfect innings out of the bullpen along with a pair of strikeouts. Max Green (5-8) suffered the loss, surrendering two runs on three hits in one inning on the mound, walking and striking out one. Southern Maryland Blue Crabs 5, Lexington Legends 2

Lexington, KY – The Legends returned home after a six-game road trip to open their final homestand of the season with a three-game set against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. Though Lexington has been eliminated from playoff contention, the club is still fighting to finish above .500 for the first time since 2018.

Right-hander Ben Ferrer got the start for the Legends and was sharp early, working three scoreless innings. He stranded a runner in scoring position in the fourth before surrendering the game’s first run on a two-out solo home run by Giovanni Digiacomo in the fifth.

Lexington managed just two hits through five innings — a single from Jerry Huntzinger in the third and a two-out knock from Xane Washington in the fifth. Both runners were left on base as the game remained 1-0 heading into the late innings.

The Legends finally broke through in the seventh when Andy Atwood singled, stole both second and third, and came home on a wild pitch to tie the game at 1-1. But Southern Maryland answered right back in the eighth. Cael Chatham delivered a two-run double and later scored on a fielder’s choice, before Jamari Baylor capped the rally with a two-run single to make it 5-1 Blue Crabs.

Lexington tried to mount a rally in the ninth after Mason Dinesen drew a walk and EJ Cumbo followed with a single, but Blue Crabs reliever Brandon McCabe shut the door with a strikeout to end it.

The win went to Rafi Vazquez (4-3), while Legends reliever Simon Gregersen (0-2) took the loss.

The Legends and Blue Crabs continue their series on Wednesday, September 17th, with an Education Day game at Legends Field. First pitch is scheduled for 11:00 AM EST.
