Staten Island’s Aaron Leasher has been signed by the Fubon Guardians of the Chinese Professional Baseball League. The southpaw is now the 6th player to be picked up from the FerryHawks organization so far this season.
Leasher proved to be one of the most dominant pitchers in the Atlantic League in the first half of the 2024 season, pitching to the tune of a 2.20 ERA and racking up 7 wins in 12 starts. His ERA was the best in the league, and at the time his contract was purchased he was tied for most wins across the ALPB in the 2024 campaign. He also struck out 66 batters in 73.1 innings of work.
Prior to being signed by the Fubon Guardians, Leasher was named the Atlantic League Pitcher of the Month for the month of June. In addition to that accolade, Leasher was crowned the sole starting pitcher Mid-Season All-Star by the Atlantic League. Although there is no All-Star game, the league selected one player from each position and Leasher was the obvious pick for best pitcher over the course of the first half after his spectacular start to the year.
The 6’3” starter joined the FerryHawks staff following six years all throughout the San Diego Padres organization, where he made it as high as AAA El Paso. Originally from Mount Pleasant, Missouri, he was drafted out of Morehead State University in Kentucky in the 6th round of the 2017 MLB June Amateur Draft. He had 32 career wins in the minors, posting 468 strikeouts in 492.1 IP.
